Public Sector Sharing Meeting
Jim Steele and Tracey Kurtenbach attended the Public Sector Unit Sharing meeting on March 21st. The meeting was chaired by SFL President Larry Hubich. Crown bargaining units and the RWDSU also attended. The discussion focused on what is happening at each bargaining table.
Bargaining Units File Unfair Labour Practice
Both the Academic and Professional Services bargaining units have filed unfair labour practice applications on the employer's implementation of paid parking at all SIAST locations. Read the Academic application here and the Professional Services here.

Job Evaluation Committee Temporarily Suspended
The Professional Services bargaining committee received a letter from SIAST stating that from April to June 2011 the JEC will not rate any revised JIQ's. As stated in the letter the employer will take this time to train out of scope managers on the job evaluation process. The bargaining committee is supporting this move as the out of scope managers are ultimately responsible for signing off on job duties in JIQ's.

Upcoming Meetings
Bargaining Chairpersons Jim Steele and Tracey Kurtenbach will meet with the common front coalition on the afternoon of March 15 and the public sector bargaining group on March 21.

Bargaining Update
The bargaining committee met on March 1st and 2nd to review the situation to date and to discuss our next steps. We will be meeting with the academics on March 14th and 15th in Regina and will have an update for the members after this meeting.
